IPCC’s latest source: what some blokes told some green student

Can the IPCC seem more ridiculous and agenda-driven? Now comes the most disgraceful example of its cherry-picking:

The United Nations’ expert panel on climate change based claims about ice disappearing from the world’s mountain tops on a student’s dissertation and an article in a mountaineering magazine.

In its most recent report, it stated that observed reductions in mountain ice in the Andes, Alps and Africa was being caused by global warming, citing two papers as the source of the information.

However, it can be revealed that one of the sources quoted was a feature article published in a popular magazine for climbers which was based on anecdotal evidence from mountaineers about the changes they were witnessing on the mountainsides around them.

The other was a dissertation written by a geography student, studying for the equivalent of a master’s degree, at the University of Berne in Switzerland that quoted interviews with mountain guides in the Alps… The dissertation paper, written by professional mountain guide and climate change campaigner Dario-Andri Schworer…

Even IPCC warmists are appalled:

Professor Richard Tol, one of the report’s authors who is based at the Economic and Social Research Institute in Dublin, Ireland, said: “These are essentially a collection of anecdotes.

“Why did they do this? It is quite astounding…”

Why did IPCC authors and their profiteering boss lie, exaggerate, cover-up, censor and accept any unchecked anecdotes from activists that suited their agenda? Hmm, beats me.

And which fool relied on the word of this corrupted body?

PM KEVIN RUDD: Well, I just look at what the scientists say. There’s a group of scientists called the International Panel on Climate Change – 4000 of them. Guys in white coats who run around and don’t have a sense of humour. They just measure things…

I stand by what the International Panel of Climate Change scientists have had to say.
