OPINION

By Alan Caruba

When President Obama announced on March 31 that he intends to ensure that the U.S. will slash its ?greenhouse gas emissions? 26% below 2005 emissions levels by 2025 in order to keep pledges made to fulfill the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, he failed to mention that such levels would be comparable to what they were in our Civil War era, 150 years ago.

He also failed to mention that the U.S. has made no such pledges as regards the 1992 ?Kyoto Treaty? which was resoundingly rejected by the U.S. Senate when then Vice President Al Gore brought it back from the U.N. conference.

There is no need, globally or nationally, to reduce such emissions. It would be a crime against humanity, especially for the millions that would be denied electrical power or would see its cost rise exponentially. ?The President has no credible evidence to back up his claims,? said H. Sterling Burnett, a Research Fellow with the free market think tank, The Heartland Institute. ?Obama?s climate actions are likely to cause far more harm to people, especially the poor, than any purported threats from global warming.? Global Warming Predictions – Having it both ways.

Antarctic ice decreases

While I was at Palmer, just across the mountains of the Peninsula, the massive Larsen B ice shelf began collapsing at catastrophic speed, changing forever the outline of the east coast. It was dramatic evidence of warming.

After the ferocious summer, changes on the Antarctic peninsula continued faster than scientists had ever anticipated. They were of greater speed, scale and magnitude than had ever been considered possible. Scientists say that they were shocked by warming so fast, intense and widespread.

Scientists On Trial? Retired Lawyer?s Blogsite To Examine Earlier ?Predictions? Made By Climate ?Experts?

We already have Climate Audit, but now it looks like we may be getting ?Climate Scientists on Trial?. Here?s a site you?ll want to subscribe to, bookmark ? or at least visit on a regular basis:

climatechangepredictions.org

As the name says, it focusses on earlier climate predictions made by the global warming alarmists (and there have been many) and compares them to what really happened. The climatechangepredictions.org site is run by Ian Hipwell, a retired lawyer from Sydney, Australia.

I think Ian will be a real asset because in his profession one is often trained to hold people?s feet to fire. Many like to say or write things, but are they able to back it all up later on. After all people who listen to these experts often act and make decisions based on the things said, and thus may incur either benefit or major damage as a result.

Alarmist scientists have said lots of things in the past, and it?s time to go back and look at them. The approach could be something like: Mr. Scientist, 15 years ago you said snow and ice would be things of the past, yet we are now seeing record snowfalls and harsh winters. Which is the lie?

Using the EPA, CEQ and other federal agencies to fundamentally transform America

by Paul Driessen

ISIS terrorists continue to butcher people, while hacking into a French television network. Iran?s quest for nuclear weapons remains on track. In a nation of 320 million people, American businesses hired only 126,000 workers in March, amid a pathetic 62% labor participation rate. Wages and incomes are stagnant.

And yet President Obama remains fixated on one obsession: dangerous manmade climate change. He blames it for everything from global temperatures that have been stable for 18 years, to hurricanes that have not made US landfall for nearly 9.5 years, and even asthma and allergies. He is determined to use it to impose energy, environmental and economic policies that will ?fundamentally transform? our nation.

He launched his war on coal with a promise that companies trying to build new coal-fired power plants would go bankrupt; implemented policies that caused oil and gas production to plunge 6% on federal lands, even as it rose 60% on state and private lands; proclaimed that he will compel the United States to slash its carbon dioxide emissions 28% below 2005 levels by 2025, and 80% by 2050; and wants electricity prices to ?necessarily skyrocket.? His Environmental Protection Agency has led the charge. (more…)

White House Announces Initiative to Focus on Health Concerns of Global Warming: We?ve Already Done It For Them!

By Patrick J. Michaels and Paul C. “Chip” Knappenberger

?

It seems like the Obama Administration is a bit behind the times when it comes to today?s announcement that it will start a new initiative to focus on the health effects of climate change.

There is no need for the White House to outlay federal resources for the time and effort that will be involved?we have already done it for them (and, undoubtedly, for a minuscule fraction of the price)!

Effects of Ocean Acidification on Marine Crustaceans

As the air?s CO2 content rises in response to ever-increasing anthropogenic CO2 emissions, and as more and more carbon dioxide therefore dissolves in the surface waters of the world?s oceans, theoretical reasoning suggests the pH values of the planet?s oceanic waters should be gradually dropping. The IPCC and others postulate that this chain of events, commonly referred to as ocean acidification, will cause great harm — and possibly death — to marine life in the decades and centuries to come. However, as ever more pertinent evidence accumulates, a much more optimistic viewpoint is emerging. Such optimism is the focus of this summary examining the effects of ocean acidification on crustaceans.
