Dem resolution warns climate change could push women to ?transactional sex?

By Pete Kasperowicz

Several House Democrats are calling on Congress to recognize that climate change is hurting women more than men, and could even drive poor women to “transactional sex” for survival.

The resolution, from Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and a dozen other Democrats, says the results of climate change include drought and reduced agricultural output. It says these changes can be particularly harmful for women. (more…)

Support drilling, fracking, Keystone ? and exports

We don?t need to restrict oil or gas exports. We need to open more lands to leasing and drilling.

by Paul Driessen

The interminable war on drilling, fracking and the Keystone XL pipeline has taken some bizarre turns. Now it?s getting worse, as opponents grow more desperate, and the moon again grows full.

Deepwater drilling, 3-dimension and 4-D seismic (the ability to visualize 3-D over many years), deep horizon horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing, and other technological marvels have obliterated environmentalist claims that the United States and world are running out of oil and gas ? and therefore we need to switch to subsidized, land-hungry, job-killing wind turbines, solar panels and biofuels. Last week it was reported that 3,318 places in the USA had recorded their lowest temperatures for this time of year since records began. Similar record cold was experienced by places in every province of Canada. So cold has the Russian winter been that Moscow had its deepest snowfall in 134 years of observations. Here in Britain, where we had our fifth freezing winter in a row, the Central England Temperature record ? according to an expert analysis on the US science blog Watts Up With That ? shows that in this century, average winter temperatures have dropped by 1.45C, more than twice as much as their rise between 1850 and 1999, and twice as much as the entire net rise in global temperatures recorded in the 20th century. Confronted with what some believe is a house on fire, Canadian Members of Parliament retire to the shadows and whisper to each other in secret.

There?s a disturbing article in the weekend edition of Canada?s National Post. It?s titled Federal politicians use non-partisan climate group to meet in ?safe space? behind closed doors.

Apparently, our elected Members of Parliament (MPs) are on a par with sex abuse victims. They need a ?safe space? to talk about what?s supposed to be the planet?s most pressing problem. Confronted with what some believe is a house on fire, they retire to the shadows and whisper to each other in secret. (more…)

As traditional energy sources go from doom and gloom to boom

If you had told environmentalists on Election Day 2008 that four years later there?d be no successor treaty to the Kyoto Protocol, that a Democratic Congress would not have enacted any meaningful climate legislation, that domestic oil production would be soaring even after a catastrophic offshore oil spill, and that the environmental community would be having a lively internal debate about whether it should support reviving nuclear power, most might have marched into the ocean to drown themselves. Yet that?s the state of play four months into President Obama?s second term. (more…)

Obama climate video stars GOP truthsayers

INVERCARGILL, NEW ZEALAND ? A priceless video [editors, please insert link here] at, Call Out Climate Deniers In Congress, is herding voters to the GOP.

The video cites a dozen Republican lawmakers talking common sense about climate, followed by Soebarkah talking nonsense. The GOP, which controls the House, has rejected 24 Donkey Party requests to hold climate hearings. The Eeyores are upset.

For the Donkeys:

Ex-Sen. Barry Soetero a.k.a. Soebarkah (D: IL): We can choose to believe that superstorm Sandy and the most severe drought in decades and the worst wildfires some states have ever seen were just a freak coincidence, or we can choose to believe in the overwhelming judgment of science and act before it?s too late [Incorrect: Even the IPCC now admits there has been no global warming for 17 years, so it cannot have caused Sandy or anything else. What has not happened cannot have caused what has. Besides, science is not done by consensus but by measurement and math].

White House Energy Advisor Admits No New Access to Drilling on Federal Lands; Countering President?s Energy Security Trust

(Washington, D.C.) ? U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.), top Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee, today sent a letter to White House Energy Advisor Heather Zichal regarding her public statements recently at an event hosted by Securing America?s Future Energy. At the event Zichal admits the Administration would not accept any expanded drilling on federal lands beyond the existing Outer Continental Shelf plan. (more…)

China to overtake US as main oil importer by 2014 says OPEC

China is on course to overtake the US as the world?s top crude importer by 2014, as the Asian country?s growing refining capacity boosts demand and America?s fracking boom cuts the need for foreign oil, OPEC said in its monthly report.

Imports to China may surpass 6 million barrels a day by the end of this year, according to an e-mailed report from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. US oil imports declined 21% last year, according to the US Energy Information Administration. Shipments may drop below 6 million a day in 2014, according to OPEC. (more…)

Time to shoot the husky, Dave

Tastes a bit like chicken, apparently?.

There is so much good news about the collapse of the EU’s carbon trading scam, that I’m not sure where to begin. But let’s start with the fact that it has really, really annoyed Bryony Worthington – the activist from the hard-left anti-capitalist pressure group Friends of the Earth who wrote the most economically suicidal piece of legislation in British history, the Climate Change Act. Even more delightfully, it will also have upset Tim “Trougher” Yeo and Lord “King Trougher” Deben, both of whom were not only fully behind this latest planned EU conspiracy against the energy user and the taxpayer but who also had the sublime gall to suggest that this market rigging is what Margaret Thatcher would have wanted.(H/T Benny Peiser, GWPF) (more…)

New SPPI Paper: Solar Influence on Global Temperature

Thursday, April 25th, 2013

Source: SPPIIdso - solar_influence

The claim that anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions have been responsible for the warming detected in the twentieth century is based on what Loehle (2004)[1] calls “the standard assumption in climate research, including the IPCC reports,” that “over a century time interval there is not likely to be any recognizable trend to global temperatures (Risbey et al., 2000), and thus the null model for climate signal detection is a flat temperature trend with some autocorrelated noise,” so that “any warming trends in excess of that expected from normal climatic variability are then assumed to be due to anthropogenic effects.” If, however, there are significant underlying climate trends or cycles-or both-either known or unknown, that assumption is clearly invalid.

What Rick Mercer Didn?t Tell Us About the ZENN Car

Why weren?t the profound limitations of an electric car the butt of a comedian?s jokes?

Rick Mercer is a Canadian comedian/satirist employed by the publicly-funded Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Like his American colleague, Jon Stewart, he spends much of his time commenting on current affairs.

First and foremost, Mercer is an entertainer ? a performer who wants to make us laugh. But once you notice that only certain kinds of people and ideas end up on the receiving end of the joke, his schtick gets a bit tiresome.

A friend recently sent me a link to a piece Mercer did on the made-in-Canada ZENN (zero emission, no noise) car. The video originally aired in 2007 and is less than six minutes long.

There?s no doubt it?s good for a chuckle, but it?s also outrageously misleading. Mercer suggests that Tory government ministers are perversely hostile to this revolutionary, allegedly non-polluting automobile. (more…)

A Wall Street billionaire is pledging to spend ?whatever it takes? to make manmade global warming the ?defining issue of our generation.? Most recently, he sent airplanes with banners over Boston that read ?Steve Lynch for Oil Evil Empire.? Lynch, a fellow Democrat and Senate candidate, favors the Keystone pipeline and the jobs it would create.

?The goal here is not to win,? says Tom Steyer, who assembled his $1.4 billion fortune as a hedge fund manager. ?The goal here is to destroy these people, We want a smashing victory.? Smash any politicians who might ?wimp out? on the harsh policies necessary to change the world into Steyer?s ?green energy? image. Spoken like a true Big Board Type-A personality. (more…)

Earth Day an Oil Industry Scam?

According to 1960s radicals, the environmental movement has been funded and orchestrated by fossil fuel interests.

Yesterday, I discussed the language used to market a book published in 1970, just prior to the celebration of the first Earth Day on April 22 of that year.

Titled Eco-Catastrophe, it is a collection of articles/essays selected by the editors of Ramparts magazine ? which was produced by 1960s-era radicals between 1962 and 1975.

One of its fascinating revelations is that those people thought Earth Day was a crock ? and were highly suspicious of the fact that the mainstream, establishment media was eagerly promoting it.

An Editorial included near the front of the book is worth quoting at length: (more…)

New paper from SPPI: Analysis of US and State-by-State Carbon Dioxide Emissions & Potential “Savings” in Future Global Temperature & Global Sea Level Rise

Wednesday, April 24th, 2013

Data Updated, April 2013

Using assumptions based on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Assessment Reports*, if the U.S. as a whole stopped emitting all carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions immediately, the ultimate impact on projected global temperature rise would be a reduction, or a ?savings,? of approximately 0.08°C by the year 2050 and 0.17°C by the year 2100?amounts that are, for all intents and purposes, negligible.

Is Global Warming Man-Made? The Majority of Christian Pastors Don?t Think So

Thursday, April 18th, 2013

Source:  The Blaze

As scientists continue to sound the alarm on global warming and its alleged discontents, it seems at least one sector is unconvinced that the phenomenon is actually unfolding. In sum, 54 percent of Protestant pastors consulted by LifeWay Research rejected the notion that ?global warming is real and man-made,? with 43 percent agreeing with this sentiment.

Not surprisingly, there are some partisan differences worth noting. While 75 percent of Democratically-aligned faith leaders strongly agree that global warming is real and man-made, only 20 percent of Independents and seven percent of Republican pastors believe the same.

GOP-aligned preachers are also the most likely to strongly disagree, with 49 percent falling into this category; only five percent of pastors who call themselves political Democrats strongly reject global warming as a man-made phenomenon. Here are some of LifeWay?s other demographic findings: (more…)
