The Green Ball And Chain

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

Environmentalism has been the bane of the Obama administration from the beginning.  The Copenhagen summit, the cap and trade fiasco, Solyndra: every time the administration tries to go green, it comes up with egg on its face.

The Obama administration?s environmental issues continue to grow. With the Solyndra failure looming large over the administration?s attempts to create green jobs, other U.S.-backed energy projects are having similar problems. From the Wall Street Journal: (more…)

Government & Cooked Temperature Data

With his permission, Richard Berler  who is Chief Meteorologist of KGNS TV in Laredo, Texas has allowed me to post his quite informative e-mail of October 6 2011 to me. It is reporiduced below.

Dear Roger,

I e-mailed you several weeks ago concerning ?bad? readings from the Laredo, TX AWIS instrumentation administered by the FAA. This has been a topic of interest to me for a number of years. In 2007 in a talk at the 14th Symposium on Meteorological Observation and Instrumentation, I noted (this was not the focus of my presentation) that the AWIS at the Laredo airport consistently read about 2F above the MMTS that I use as a NCDC cooperative observer. This bias was present at all hours of the day, even with a very well mixed atmosphere. I am about 4 miles from the AWIS and about 70 feet lower in elevation. I did note that this would be climatologically significant as it would make the AWIS site warmer than any Texas location by 2F on an annual basis, warmer than Death Valley, and warmer than any Florida station with the exception of the Florida Keys. The phony ?consensus? on climate change

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

Source:  Provo Daily Herald

The end is near …

… that is, for the myth that scientists have reached “consensus” on global warming and climate change caused by humans.

The theory (more accurately called a religion for the redistribution of wealth) has taken a number of body blows in recent times — although the climate-change lobby is still straining to impose its view on the world. For example, Time magazine issued a screed headlined “Who’s Bankrolling the Climate-Change Deniers?” The piece wonders why any doubts linger. Time says, “an overwhelming scientific consensus that says it does.” (more…)

Who’s Bankrolling the Climate Change Fanatics?

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

Source:  New American

Time Magazine is accusing climate change deniers of a vast right-wing conspiracy of deceit that threatens to subvert efforts protecting the Earth from eco-catastrophe. In “Who’s Bankrolling the Climate-Change Deniers?” Bryan Walsh bemoans the fact that only a few years ago Republicans such as John McCain and Mitt Romney supported government cap-and-trade programs to restrict industrial emissions of so-called greenhouse gases (GHG) but are now backpedaling. He cites polls showing a growing number of conservatives in the deniers’ camp. “That’s deeply troubling,” Walsh laments, “… despite an overwhelming scientific consensus” confirming imminent calamity. EPA: the Endangerment Finding was not a ?highly influential scientific assessment?

Source: Climate audit

by Steve McIntyre

The recent report of the EPA Office of Inspector General(OIG) contains a remarkable dispute between the OIG on the one hand and EPA and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on the other as to whether the Technical Support Document (TSD) for the Endangerment Finding was a ?highly influential scientific assessment?, a defined category under OMB peer review policy. It would doubtless seem self-evident to most readers that, if any scientific assessment were to meet any criteria of being ?highly influential?, the TSD for the Endangerment Finding would meet such criteria. Michael ?Climategate? Mann Suffers Three Legal Blows in Court Escapade

Michael Mann

by John O’Sullivan

Discredited global warming scientist, Michael Mann, sees his last-ditch efforts to hide data fall apart as legal experts reveal a mountain of legal precedents against him.

In his recent papers (filed on September 2, 2011) Mann claims ?academic freedom? and ?proprietary materials? as his defense. But legal experts who have since reviewed Mann?s submission to the Circuit Court of Prince William County, Va., say they are so full of holes they are doomed to fail.

In this article we show why the Virginia court isn?t likely to give Michael Mann a ?get out of jail free? card when it comes to covering up what looks increasingly like a monumental climate conspiracy.

The three facts likely to be fatal to Mann?s case are: (more…)

The Truth about SourceWatch

SourceWatch is a propaganda site funded by an extreme left-wing, anti-capitalist and anti-corporate organization, the Center for Media and Democracy. Just like the untrustworthy Wikipedia the content can be written and edited by ordinary web users. Users who all conveniently share an extreme left-wing bias. SourceWatch is frequently cited by those seeking to smear individuals and organizations who do not share their extreme left-wing bias since they cannot find any legitimate criticisms from respected news sources. Malaria Declines Despite Local Warming

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

Source:  World Climate Report

?Spreading tropical disease? is high on the list of bad things that are going to happen as the world warms?if you believe the doomsayers. And topping their list of spreading tropical diseases is malaria.

But, as we have on many past occasions pointed out, malaria is neither ?tropical? nor is it ?spreading.?

In fact, back in the late 19th century, malaria was thought to be endemic in most regions east of the Rocky Mountains?brought to the U.S. in the 16th and 17th century by European colonists and African slaves and spreading across the country with the migration of those populations (Zucker, 1996). Things More Worrisome than AGW: Wall Street Protesters Say This Is Their ?Arab Spring?

Police officers enter the crowd to make arrests as a large group of protesters march across the Brooklyn Bridge roadway, Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, in New York.

October 3, 2011

(CNSNews.com) – The “leaderless resistance movement” that began with a handful of college students in a lower Manhattan park two weeks ago spread to other cities over the weekend, and it is expected to grow even larger in the days ahead.

Occupy Wall Street protesters say they are “using the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic” to achieve their goals, which vary from protester to protester, but generally include calls to tax the rich and spread the wealth. (more…)

Turbulence hits EU airline pollution scheme

By Andrew Parker in London

Airlines face being caught up in a global trade war as opposition grows to the European Union?s controversial plan to make carriers pay for their pollution, the aviation industry?s main representative body warned on Monday.

Tony Tyler, director-general of the International Air Transport Association, told the Financial Times there was a genuine risk that countries outside the EU would take retaliatory action against the bloc?s plan to bring airlines within its carbon emissions trading scheme from January. (more…)

Things More Worrisome than AGW: Veteran agitators flock to Occupy Wall Street

City’s biggest unions, community groups queue up to join the fight as young amateurs using Facebook and Twitter make more waves than the pros.

The city’s most experienced agitators?the labor and community groups that typically organize local marches, rallies and sit-ins?have been largely missing from the Occupy Wall Street protest that is in its 13th day at Zuccotti Park in lower Manhattan.

But that’s about to change.

A loose coalition of labor and community groups said Thursday that they would join the protest next week. They are organizing a solidarity march scheduled for Wednesday that is expected to start at City Hall and finish a few blocks south at Zuccotti Park. (more…)

Glaciergate?s Other WWF Connection

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011

I?ve been writing about how the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) systematically recruited scientists associated with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to join its own, parallel, panel. Between 2004 and 2008 the WWF signed-up 130 scientists ? most of whom, it said, were members of the IPCC (please see my earlier posts here, here, and here).

The fact that these scientists were incapable of understanding that it was wildly improper to join an organization with a climate change axe to grind at the same time that they were supposed to be making careful, impartial, objective decisions about climate change tells us that advanced degrees aren?t everything.

All the education in the world is no substitute for good judgment. And, sooner or later, the chickens do come home to roost. (more…)

Follow the Money: 78 Names at the IPCC

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011

Source: NFC

October 1, 2011

In a sensible universe, the list that appears below would be sufficient to vaporize the credibility of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) ? now and forever, once and for all.

Beginning in 2004 (around the time that work was beginning on the 2007 Climate Bible) the activist World Wildlife Fund (WWF) systematically began recruiting IPCC scientists. By late 2008 it says it had persuaded 130 ?leading climate scientists mostly, but not exclusively from? the IPCC to join its parallel initiative called the Climate Witness Scientific Advisory Panel.

The scientists whose names appear below have not only been examining one of the world?s most important questions for the IPCC. They have a documented, public relationship with professional lobbyists who have a strong interest in influencing this matter. (For readers who are just tuning in, the WWF believes it is ?nearly impossible to overstate? the threat posed by climate change ? see here, backup link here.)

The people on the list below either played some role in the 2007 Climate Bible or are helping to write the next IPCC report which is expected to be completed in 2013. In many cases, they?re doing dual duty.

On this list are 23 coordinating lead authors ? those the IPCC placed in charge of an entire chapter. The list also includes Osvaldo Canziani. Having served as Working Group 2 co-chair for both the 2001 and 2007 reports, he is one of the IPCC?s most senior officials. (more…)

OPINION

Source: Canada Free Press

With absolutely no proof of any kind of who he really is, Barack Obama made it to the Oval Office in 2008.  There was no media vetting of the largely absentee senator from Illinois, who even back then had the temerity to compare himself to Abraham Lincoln.  All anyone ever had to go on was an autobiographical book suspected of being ghost-written by an unrepentant domestic terrorist.  We all know how it goes with politicians and autobiographical books.

When Nancy Pelosi writes hers she will claim she trumps Mother Teresa, the Calcutta saint, not the one married to John Kerry.

You can claim to be anyone you want in a book, and that?s what Barry Soetoro did.If Harry Reid ever gets around to it, writing his, wine will turn to vinegar overnight. (more…)
